Verona Recreation Fall Program Registration

Verona
Recreation is pleased to announce its fall 2013 program lineup. The Recreation
Department is offering children plenty of options to stay busy this fall with
about 25 different programs. There is something available for every age group.
Selected fall favorites include programs like:

*NEW- Indoor Ropes Course:  The Recreation Department is very excited to
now have an indoor high ropes course available to its residents. This brand new
introductory course will provide children the opportunity to explore low ropes
and high ropes course elements. This program uses adventure elements to help
teach team building and effective communication by working together in a group
atmosphere. It also gives participants a chance to step outside of their
comfort zone and push themselves mentally and physically in a controlled
environment all while having fun. This is a 6 week program for 5th
& 6th graders and costs $30. No previous climbing experience is
necessary.

Small Fry & Kinderkickers Soccer:
Small Fry Soccer is for children ages 3- Pre-K. This program introduces the
“littlest” athletes to soccer. Children will work with soccer pros and parent
coaches on a fun series of skills and drills. Kinderkickers is for children in
Kindergarten and meets at Brookdale Ave. School.  The Verona Recreation Department has
contracted with United Soccer Academy instructors to run this soccer clinic.
The program includes an introduction to soccer skills and drills and includes
limited competition. Parents will help run the sessions. Both programs run for
7 weeks at a cost of $60 and are held on Saturday afternoons at different
times.

Flag Football: Flag football is
another very popular program for kindergarteners and children in grades 1-3.
This is a 6 week program held on Forest Ave. School Field on Saturday mornings.
The cost of this program is $30.

Tennis: There is a tennis
program available for children in 1st grade all the way up to 8th
grade.  These programs are broken up by
grade and are held on different days. On the other hand, Tennis Tots is for younger children ages 4- 6.  All of these programs run for 6 weeks at a
cost of $65.

Verona
Recreation introduced hiking into its lineup in the spring and will continue
again into the fall. The Hilltop Reservation has developed some great hiking
trails with varying difficulty and the recreation department is seeking to take
advantage of this exceptional outdoor space. Lil Hikers has been created to
target children looking to get involved with outdoor activities.

Lil Hikers:  The Lil Hikers program created for children
ages 4-6 along with a caregiver, provides a nice introduction to the basics of
hiking and the outdoors. The trails traveled are designed to be safe and easy
for younger kids.  All hiking programs
will be led by a properly prepared guide.

These
programs are just a sample of a remarkable fall schedule. There are still
numerous youth programs available and plenty of options for Verona’s adult and
senior population including, basketball, adult and senior exercise classes, Zumba,
yoga, cooking, tennis and walking.
