Verona-Cedar Grove Residents Celebrated for Achievements

Several Verona and Cedar Grove residents were recognized for their recent accomplishments.

Verona and Cedar Grove are both full of accomplished people, as well as celebrities like as celebrities like NFL star Anthony Fasano and comedian and actor Jay Mohr, both of Verona and Chef Amanda Freitag of Cedar Grove.

Local residents are never short of achievements.

Verona attorney Brendan M. Walsh of Pashman Stein, P.C. was recently honored as an up-and-coming under 40 lawyer by New Jersey Lawyers magazine.

Artist Christina Saj of Cedar Grove

Cedar Grove resident artist Christina Saj was recently featured on Alpha Omega Arts as their Artist of the Month for March 2013.

“She was selected in celebration of her contemporary artworks created in the spirit of byzantine icons,” said members of Alpha Omega Arts.

Alpha & Omega Project for Contemporary Religious Arts, Inc., is an educational charity based in Indianapolis.

“Christina is a painter who lives in New Jersey, and who is always exhibiting somewhere in the NYC area,” their website says. “When she isn't exhibiting, she's curating or creating. Her love of God is reflected in her use of vibrant living colors.”

Nicole Farbaniec of Verona

Nicole Farbaniec of Verona has been granted the Presidential Scholarship to study Occupational Therapy at Alvernia University. Farbaniec is currently a senior at Verona High School.

The Presidential Scholarship is a merit-based scholarship awarded on a competitive basis. To be awarded this $14,000 scholarship, the recipient must have a minimum of 1130 on the SAT, or 25 on the ACT, as well as a minimum 3.5 GPA, according to Alvernia University officials.

Christina Celfo of Verona

Christina Celfo of Verona, a senior at The University of Scranton, was selected serve as a student teacher at Dallas Middle School in the Dallas School District during the spring semester.

Celfo is majoring in middle level education English, language arts and reading at the Jesuit university.
