First Presbyterian Church of Verona Offers Members the Gift of Charity

The Alternative Christmas Mall will give congregation members a chance to donate to a local charity in the name of a relative, friend or co-worker.

Church-goers will have an opportunity to experience the gift of giving for the holidays when The First Presbyterian Church of Verona holds its annual Alternative Christmas Mall event on Sunday.

Members of the congregation can give the gift of a contribution in the name of a relative, friend or co-worker to one of dozens of different charities.

“Many of us struggle to find just the right Christmas gift to give someone,” said Pastor Erik Spencer. “But giving just one more thing that will collect dust on a shelf doesn’t seem the best solution.”

“These contributions not only benefit some wonderful organizations, but also make Christmas less frenzied for the gift giver,” he said.

The Alternative Christmas Mall will follow the 10:15 service on Sunday, Dec. 2 at The First Presbyterian Church of Verona, located at 10 Fairview Ave. in Verona.

“People making a contribution receive a card acknowledging the generous gift in the name of a family member, friend, or co-worker,” said Spencer.
