Cedar Grove Native Presents George Washington Coin Collection

The Cedar Grove Historical Society hosted "Washington Commemorated on Coins and Medals" where Cedar Grove native Ray Williams presented his extensive collection of coins.

Ray Williams, a former resident of Cedar Grove, presented his coin collection to the Cedar Grove Historical Society on Wednesday, Feb. 27 to celebrate George Washington's birthday, which is Feb. 22.

Williams has been collecting coins since he was 11 years old as a Boy Scout in Cedar Grove, he said.

"I think George Washington today is underappreciated," said Williams. "During colonial times he was almost deified."
