Cedar Grove Blood Drive Starts Today at 2 p.m.
Donate blood today and get a free $15 Shop Rite gift card.
The Cedar Grove Ambulance and Rescue Squad is hosting a blood drive today, starting at 2 p.m due to a “severe emergency blood shortage.”
To donate, visit the Rescue Squad at 651 Pompton Ave. in Cedar Grove and receive a $15 gift card to Shop Rite.
“The Blood Center of New Jersey (BCNJ) is in a Severe Emergency Blood Shortage situation and needs all those who are eligible to please donate,” the Rescue Squad said.

Recent snow storms have cancelled recent blood drives many people are sick with a cold or the flu causing a shortage of blood donations.
“The standard daily orders of blood and blood products to our New Jersey hospitals has been reduced to less than one quarter,” the Squad said. “BCNJ predicts this situation will get worse in the coming weeks.”

The blood drive will run until 8 p.m. but donors are recommended to arrive early and bring something to read since a large crowd is expected.
Donors need to eat before giving blood and must bring a photo I.D.
