The Coast Guard rescued six people from a life raft after the 38-foot boat they were in ran aground and began taking on water in Barnegat Inlet Thursday morning. A crew member on board the Southern Comfort, a sport fishing boat based in Forked River, radioed Cost Guard watch standers at approximately 7:45 a.m. reporting they were aground on the rocks of the inlet's north jetty.
Authorities say 15-year-old Lennon Baldwin, a freshman at Morristown High School, was the victim of an assault at the school, told to lie about it and then robbed in the Century 21 parking lot just weeks before committing suicide on March 28 in his Morris Township home. Morris County Prosecutor Robert Bianchi announced Wednesday the charges against two Morristown juveniles and 19-year-old Morristown resident Michael Conway for their alleged involvement in the incidents in early March.

Online retailer Amazon.com has agreed to collect 7 percent sales tax on purchases made in New Jersey starting in July 2013, the same time it plans to begin building two new distribution warehouses in the state. The agreement, announced jointly by Gov. Chris Christie and Amazon executive Paul Meisner at the Statehouse on Wednesday, could bring thousands of construction jobs and 1,500 permanent positions at the warehouses. A Gloucester Township man allegedly assaulted a woman and threatened to stab her with a knife inside his home Tuesday afternoon before being taken into custody by SWAT officers. The victim summoned Gloucester Township Police Tuesday after she was able to escape from the suspect's home, where she reportedly was struck with a hammer and threatened with a large knife.
The trial for a Hopatcong man accused of killing a borough woman has been moved to Sept. 11—a week after what would have bene her 25th birthday. It was originally scheduled to begin Tuesday.

A former Montville first-grade teacher who has been jailed on charges he allegedly sexually assaulted two of his students has now been accused of having a sexual relationship with a Butler High School track athlete he coached at the school in the mid-'90s, the Morris County Prosecutor's Office said Saturday. According to a statement released by Capt. Jeffrey Paul, a third victim recently came forward, accusing Jason Fennes, 37, of Bloomfield, of having a sexual relationship that began when she was 15 and he was her high school track coach.
