Anthony Fasano Bocce Bash Will Help Veteran Rebuild After Sandy

Spots expected to sell out fast for annual Verona Park tournament benefiting Rebuilding Together: Veterans Housing.

The Anthony Fasano Foundation Bocce Bash returns for its fifth year to Verona Park on Saturday, July 13.

The tournament, named for Kansas Chiefs tight end and Verona native Anthony Fasano, benefits “Rebuilding Together: Veterans Housing.”

Rebuilding Together, with this year’s proceeds from the bocce tournament, will be identifying a military veteran from New Jersey whose home was damaged by Hurricane Sandy to help the veteran rebuild.

The tournament runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with food, crafts and music in the park throughout the day.

Rebuilding Together is a nonprofit organization working to preserve affordable home ownership and revitalize communities. The organization’s national initiative “Veterans Housing” was created to meet the growing needs of veterans from past and present wars.

The Anthony Fasano Foundation along with dozens of volunteer workers and contractors partnered with Essex County Executive, Joseph N. DiVincenzo last summer to build four brand new bocce courts in Verona Park, which will be the permanent home of the fundraiser.

Anthony Fasano started his Foundation in an effort to support families in need in his home state of New Jersey. For the last six years, Fasano has run an Annual Golf Classic in New Jersey benefiting the REED Academy, a school serving children with Autism.

“I have always wanted to do an event that benefits military families,” Fasano said in a release. “It was particularly difficult being out of the area during Hurricane Sandy, I felt helpless. With this year’s Bocce Bash we are able to both, help a military family and one who was affected by Sandy.”

The Anthony Fasano Foundation Bocce Bash is a double elimination bocce tournament. The event is limited to just 24 teams and is expected to sell out. Register here as soon as possible to guarantee a spot in the tournament.
