Foot Spa & Tea Bar Marks Successful Year

Foot reflexology brings comfort to new and returning customer base.

During this past year, as stress of everyday life continued to pile up, clients of the Foot Spa & Tea Bar realized just how grateful they were to owner Sharon Saint Amand.

It was a year ago this month the business opened and Saint Amand has only good things to say about the past year, saying, “We have done very well for a new business in such a strained economic climate. I think people are realizing the therapeutic benefits of every visit.”

Saint Amand explained foot reflexology, an ancient therapy originating in China, and the Far East, has been practiced for almost 3,000 years. Like acupuncture and acupressure, modern medicine has come to accept the healing benefits of these practices.

It is more than just a foot massage as its therapeutic effects are numerous. Through much research and analysis, foot massage reflexology treatments have been shown to add relief to conditions such as: sleep disorders, hormonal imbalances, arthritis, back pain, migraines, digestive disorders, blood pressure, stress-related conditions and even congestion.

“I can tell it’s working just from my repeat customers, Saint Amand said. Although the business accepts walk in customers, Thursday through Saturday is almost too busy to accommodate them.

That’s not to say you can’t book the morning before. Our male client base has grown to 30 to 40 percent as well," she said, "People are getting relief and they are coming back.”

The Foot Spa & Tea Bar began offering anniversary specials Monday. Anyone who comes in for two sessions before the end of March will receive a free hand reflexology session.

Also, everyone who comes in for any session before the end of March will be entered to win a gift basket. Valued at $200, the basket will be filled with teas, lotions, music and other items allowing you to extend your experience from the Foot Spa to your home.

Saint Amand said, “By request, we have added a 90-minute session to our 30- and 60-minute sessions. We also offer hands reflexology and seated chair massage. Plus our complimentary, aromatic teas have been so popular that we are now selling loose teas. We are very lucky to have the support and confidence of our clients.”

The Foot Spa & Tea Bar is located at 613 Bloomfield Ave., across from the Verona police station. To learn more, go to footspaandteabar.com or call (973) 857-1527.

Disappointed. Tried it few weeks ago. Not worth it even at a discounted price. Who would want to spend $35 (regular price $60) plus 20% tip they force you to give for less than an hour simple foot massage. Would not even consider it reflexology. And to add to it, the ambiance is not good as well. Mandy the receptionist is cold and rude. Definitely not recommended.

Bought the special for three foot massages which claims to be a $180.00 value, yet by their own advertised pricing posted within, each session is $50.00 each. Receptionist upon arriving was unfriendly and almost to point of rude. I called in advance asking if I needed to know anything in advance of my visit and was informed to just show up a few minutes prior to appointment to fill out paperwork. Once there I was brought into a small back, darkened room with several reclining chairs lined up against one wall and another protruding from an adjacent wall. No curtains in between for privacy and all you could hear was the shuffling of the attendants while each worked on their prospective client. I was not informed to wear loose pants so that I could expose my leg area, despite having asked if I needed to know anything in advance. What spa doesn't give you a gown to change into? I was barely able to pull my pant legs up to expose entire leg area, therefore not getting the full treatment I paid for. Very disappointed. After I complete the other two sessions I already paid for, I will neither return nor recommend this spa to others.
