Pink Out Your Hair At Bellatair

Cedar Grove salon, along with the Junior Women's Club of Verona, will sell pink hair and feather extensions for breast cancer awareness on Sunday afternoon.

Bellatair Salon and the Junior Women's Club of Cedar Grove are teaming up for a cause very close to their hearts — Breast Cancer Awareness.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and both the salon and the club are preparing for Sunday’s annual Shades of Pink Fundraiser at the salon.

“Grab your daughter, mom, sister, friend or any important woman in your life and donate to a cause that can affect any one of us,” the Junior Women's Club said in a written statement.

The fundraiser will run from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the salon, located at 547 Pompton Ave. in Cedar Grove

Participants can purchase pink hair extensions for $10 or feather extensions for $30. The salon will also serve pink treats and refreshments and hold a raffle with prizes.

The event, now in its third year, raised $2,200 in 2011 plus an additional $67 in tips. All the proceeds, including the tips, were donated to the Susan G. Komen Foundation and Pink Hair for Hope.

“Last year we had a line out the door and down the block,” said Michelle Winkle, President of the Junior Women's Club of Cedar Grove. “We are hoping we do just as well if not more.”

The event may be extended if everyone cannot be accommodated, said Salon Coordinator Donna Morciano.

The event has gotten bigger every year, the first year there were only a few members of the Women's Club (in attendance), said Winkle.

“Last year we made an event out of it and we sold out,” she said. “We did so well that they sold out of hair extensions within the first two hours.”
