Board of Ed Meetings, Golf Classic and Meet and Greet in the Week Ahead

See what's going on this week in Verona and Cedar Grove.

School is back in session and that means both the Verona and Cedar Grove boards of education will meet for public sessions this week.

In Verona, the board of education will meet on Tuesday, April 30 at 8 p.m. at Verona High School. During the last meeting, the board discussed holding a referendum for repairs to various buildings and grounds repairs and upgrades. An agenda is attached as a pdf.

The Cedar Grove Board of Education will also meet for a public session on Tuesday, April 30 at 8 p.m. at North End School. During the last meeting, Cedar Grove resident Bill Fearon, an active duty law-enforcement officer and President of Triangle Training Group presented his findings from his review of school safety measures. On Monday, April 29, the Anthony Fasano Foundation will hold its sixth annual Golf Classic to raise money for Reed Academy, an Oakland school serving the needs of children with autism. The event will be held at Montclair Golf Club, located at 25 Prospect Ave. in West Orange. Fasano is a Verona native and currently plays tight end with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Health educators from the New Jersey Poison Information and Education System (NJPIES) will conduct a free poison prevention education program sponsored by Moms of Verona/Caldwell on Monday, April 29, 2013 at the Verona Public Library located at 17 Gould St., Verona at 7:30 p.m.

The Cedar Grove Chamber of Commerce will hold a meet and greet with the Cedar Grove Council candidates on Wednesday, May 1, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Victors Chateau, located at 215 Route 23 in Little Falls. 

The event is an informal meet and greet with a light supper and an opportunity to meet and socialize with the candidates, said Cedar Grove Chamber of Commerce President Al Rosen.
