Verona Fair in the Square Kicks Off Saturday

The 16th annual event returns to Verona from noon to 5 p.m. at the Verona Civic Center.

This weekend marks the kick-off of an annual Verona tradition — the launch of the annual Fair in the Square on Saturday at the Verona Civic Center.

“Fair in the Square has become Verona’s tradition, drawing people from all over town and surrounding communities,” said Mayor Frank Sapienza. “The fair is great because it is so community and family oriented, with plenty of activities, entertainment, and food; and will have children and adults enjoying a great day outdoors meeting their neighbors.”

The day will include performances by the Verona High School Vocal Jazz Ensemble, directed by Judy Szybist.

Other entertainment includes an ice sculpture demonstration, children's workshop, moon-bounce, pictures with Santa and the tree-lighting ceremony, starting at 4:30 p.m.

Entertainment will be provided by Polka Dot, who will sing, dance and get the young at heart moving and shaking,” said Fair in the Square Coordinator Diana Vitrano. “Strolling stilt walkers, fire-eating characters and puppeteers will again interact and amuse attendees.”

The Verona Civic Center is located at 800 Bloomfield Ave.
