Super Bowl 'Huddle Tour' Brings Lombardi Trophy to Montclair

Free tour was designed by the NY/NJ Super Bowl Host Committee to generate excitement for Super Bowl XLVIII.

The Join the Huddle Tour — the first-ever mobile tour associated with a Super Bowl — stopped in Montclair Thursday, offering local fans a few hours of football-related fun and a chance to see the Vince Lombardi trophy up close.

The free tour was designed by the NY/NJ Super Bowl Host Committee to generate excitement for Super Bowl XLVIII, which will take place in February at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford.

Despite a steady drizzle, more than a hundred children had visited the tour stop in the parking lot of the George Inness Annex at Montclair High School between noon and 2 p.m., according to Kathleen Finnegan, a member of the NY/NJ Super Bowl Host Committee.

Finnegan walked Patch around the tour which starts inside the "Huddle Shuttle", a specially outfitted Hess tractor trailer, where the Tiffany & Co. Vince Lombardi trophy is displayed in a glass case for photo-ops.

Next, the tour moves to a replica of a stadium locker room with memorabilia on view belonging to the New York Giants, New York Gets, Super Bowl players and Lombardi himself.

Outside the "Huddle Shuttle", interactive stations let football fans young and old get in on the action, whether it be attempting a field goal, testing their throwing accuracy or making the call on a replay screen.

The Join the Huddle Tour's next stop is the Liberty Science Center in Jersey City this Saturday.

The tour will make dozens of stops in the months leading up to the Super Bowl and will be parked at the stadium on the big day
