One of the year’s longest and loudest fundraisers is about to hit the road in northern New Jersey, as Gooch’s Garlic Run is set to take off Wednesday night.

The 27th annual event will begin in the parking lot of the Rockaway Townsquare Mall, according to bknjix.org, the website of the Blue Knights, which created the fundraiser. From there, some 2,000 bikers will take to Interstate 80, then onto Rt. 280 and ending in the Ironbound section of Newark.

The event raises funds for local children’s charities. This year, three children from Lake Hopatcong, Boonton, and Hillside will be the recipients of the proceeds from the event.

Bikers looking to join the event can pre-register for $15, or register at the event for $20. Sign-up begins at 4:30 p.m. with the run hitting the road at 6:30 p.m.

The caravan of motorcycles will have a police escort.
