Doherty Enterprises, Inc., operator of New Jersey Applebee’s restaurants as well as The Shannon Rose Irish Pubs in Clifton, Ramsey and Woodbridge, recently sponsored and participated in the Ridgewood Fourth of July Celebration, a Ridgewood tradition since 1910.  The 103rd Ridgewood celebration’s 2013 theme was “Honoring our Declaration of Independence” and the day began with its traditional flag raising, a tradition that has endured even during the depression, without fail.  It was immediately followed by the parade procession of civic organizations.  Thirty Applebee’s employees and the Applebee’s van, joined by fellow volunteers from The Shannon Rose restaurants, participated in the parade route through the Village of Ridgewood, along with New Jersey’s Governor Chris Christie and family, who waved from a pick-up truck.  In the evening, Applebee’s and The Shannon Rose sponsored the Fireworks Grand Finale, which many consider to be the area’s finest.  Community involvement is an important part of the Doherty Enterprises’ mission---to WOW the community and striving to do this daily by providing sponsorships, donations, school programs, and participating during our national celebration has become a tradition.
