Chapel Hill Academy Leader Honored at Statewide Conference

Verona resident, Michael Somers, III, a school psychologist at Chapel Hill Academy in Lincoln Park, has been named ASAH’s School Psychologist of the Year. Presented before a crowd of more than 1,200 educators at the Annual ASAH conference in Atlantic City, New Jersey, the award recognizes professionals working in the field of special education for excellence and exemplary dedication and commitment.

A graduate of Caldwell High School, Somers began his career at Chapel Hill Academy more than 12 years ago as a Teacher Assistant. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Kutztown University, a Masters Degree in Educational Psychology, a Professional Diploma for School Psychology as well as a Post Masters’ certification in Educational Administration from Kean University.

Somers, a nationally-certified School Psychologist and certified Senior Level Crisis Prevention Institute Instructor, is currently pursuing a Post Masters’ certification in School Neuropsychology.

“I am deeply humbled to be chosen by my peers for this recognition,” said Somers. “I love the work I do and the children I serve.”
