Cedar Grove Ambulance & Rescue Squad offers defensive driving course

A defensive driving course is being offered at the Cedar Grove Ambulance and Rescue Squad from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 23rd, at their squad building on Pompton Avenue in Cedar Grove.  The cost is $50.00.  To sign up for the course log on to www.Blackjacketgroup.net, click on Class Registration and follow the prompts to register.  For any questions, call the Blackjacket Group at 973-320-3200.  This course is being given by Blackjacket Group, a company authorized to provide defensive driving courses.  This six hour course will not only cover learning accident avoidance techniques, but will also provide for insurance premium reduction and New Jersey motor vehicle points reduction.  Driving records are forwarded to Motor Vehicle Commission and are recorded onto your driver’s license abstract.  State law requires insurance companies to provide premium discounts for drivers who successfully complete an approved driver safety program.  At a minimum they must provide a five percent discount on the premium for owned vehicle coverage.  This reduction is good for three years or until four motor vehicle points are amassed, or your license is suspended or revoked.  This discount applies to personal passenger automobiles, with only one discount per vehicle.  If you have two or more vehicles on your policy, the discount will apply to the vehicle primarily operated by the person who attends the course.  Students are encouraged to contact their insurance carrier for an explanation as to how this discount will be applied.  Blackjacket Group also offers CPR, First Aid and SORA classes.
