Art on the Avenue Show
Art on the Avenue, a fondly remembered, long-time West Essex area tradition, will be revived once again by The Caldwell Merchants’ Association from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, June 9, on Bloomfield Avenue in central downtown. In case of rain, the event will take place from noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday, June 10.
Community members of all ages from near and far are invited to stroll the Avenue sidewalks on June 9 to view the show and enjoy Caldwell’s shops and restaurants along the way. Event- registered artists and fine crafters will show their work in the categories of fine art in all mediums, photography, and sculpture and fine art crafts. An eight- to 12-foot length of display art fencing will be provided to registered artists, many of whom will be offering their work for sale.
Jurors Will Award Prizes
Professional art jurors will select pieces from the show to be presented in the Winners' Circle on the Caldwell Green, located at the corner of Bloomfield and Roseland avenues.
Final judging for awards will take place from 2:30 to 3 p.m. at that location, with an awards ceremony scheduled there at 4:00 p.m. A total of one thousand dollars in cash prizes will be awarded to winning artists, with a cash award of $500 to be given to the Best in Show winner.
The Caldwell Merchants Association is a non-profit group of merchants, professionals, and residents from surrounding communities whose goal is to revitalize Caldwell’s downtown through promotions, the arts, historic preservation, and beautification. Members of the West Essex community who frequent Caldwell are welcome to help reach these goals.
