Stolen car, burglary and fires highlight weekly report.

 

The following reports were prepared by the Verona Police Department and do not indicate a conviction.

11/4/2011

10:38 AM Officer Joel Martin took a report of fraud from a Forest Avenue resident.

1:52 PM Officer Anthony O’Connor responded along with the Verona Rescue Squad to a report of a woman who fell in the Pilgrim Plaza.  After treatment she was transported to Mountainside Hospital.

10:55 AM Officer William Frazee took a report of property damage at a Harrison Street residence.

1:13 PM Officer O’Connor took a report of property damage to a vehicle on Bloomfield Avenue

 

11/6/2011

7:15 AM Officer Robert Shafer took a report of a theft form a motor vehicle in Verona Park.

3:03 PM Officer Martin responded along with the Verona Rescue Squad to a report of a person who fell in the Pilgrim Plaza. After treatment the subject refused transportation to the hospital.

 

11/7/2011

2:55 PM Officer Michael Barone took a report of a fraud from a Verona Place resident.

8:31 AM Officer Barone arrested Pedro Calixto of Montclair on outstanding warrants from Caldwell and Roseland Municipal courts.  After processing the subject was released on bail.

 

11/8/2011

9:27 AM Officer Joseph Ballantyne responded along with the Verona Rescue Squad to a report of a person who fell.  The subject had several lacerations due to the fall and was transported to the hospital.

1:19 PM Officer Joseph Ballantyne took a report of property damage to a motor vehicle on Linden Avenue.

9:32 PM Officer Anthony Condorelli and the Verona Rescue Squad responded to a Pompton Avenue business on a report of a shoulder injury. A Cedar Grove resident was evaluated and transportation to the hospital was not needed.

 

11/9/2011

6:22 AM Officer Steven Young responded to a Morningside Road location and took a report of a dispute between neighbors.

7:35 AM Officer Anthony O’Connor responded to a Woodland Avenue residence and took a report of a stolen vehicle.  The resident reported that sometime overnight his Mercedes was stolen from the driveway.  The vehicle information was entered into the state computer system.

 

11/10/2011

7:28 AM Officer O’Connor responded along with the Rescue Squad to a report of a person who fell on Green Acres Drive.  After treatment the victim was transported to Mountainside Hospital.

9:59 AM Officer Frazee took a report of  an injury to a dog that was bitten by a dog running at large on Pease Avenue.

3:56 PM Officer Michael Barone effected a motor vehicle stop on Pompton Avenue after a random check of a license plate showed the vehicle to be unregistered.  Further investigation revealed that the vehicle was also uninsured.  Summonses were issued and the vehicle was impounded.

9:49 PM Officer Barone responded along with the Verona Fire Department to a transformer fire on Park Avenue. An electrical wire was observed burning next to a house.  Minor damage was observed to the residence.

 

11/11/2011 

09:05 AM Lt. Bruce Smith took a report of a fraud from a Martin Road resident.

11:11 AM Officer Ballantyne took a report of a burglary to a residence on Brentwood Drive.

12:35 PM Officer Frazee took a report of property damage to a vehicle on South Prospect St.

7:47 PM Officer Tim Banta responded along with the Verona Fire Department to a report of a kitchen fire at a Bloomfield Avenue Apartment.  The fire was extinguished and minor damage was observed in the kitchen area.

When I read of damage to a vehicle or other property. I wonder was it vandalism or some other cause. The more we learn, the more alert we become,
