The next few months will be a busy at Temple Sholom of West Essex.
Time is running out to complete the temple long-range planning online survey, with the deadline Wednesday, May 1.
The survey should take about 10 minutes to complete and will let temple members have a say in the temple’s future.

The Adult Education Department is sponsoring a trip to the Jewish Museum in New York City on Thursday, May 17.
At the museum, two docent-led tours will take place featuring the works of Eduoard Vuillard, featuring “A Painter and his Muses, 1890-1940,” and Kehinde Wiley’s “The World Stage: Israel.”
The Vuillard exhibit features 50 key works by the artist, spanning two centuries.
The Wiley exhibit features vibrant, large-scale portraits of Israeli youth.
Buses will leave from the temple parking lot at 9:30 a.m. and return at 3:30 p.m. Lunch will not be provided and guests should plan on eating at the museum’s café.

Dropoff begins on Sunday for the Temple Sholom of West Essex Spring Rummage Sale.
The sale, which happens on Sunday, May 6 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Monday, May 7 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., will feature gently used items such as:
• Clean clothing, shoes and handbags
• Baby items
• Toys, games, video games
• Small working appliances
• Household items, such as dishes, pots and pans
• Sporting Goods

Temple Sholom of West Essex is pleased to announce Shabbat Shaboomi on Friday, June 1 at 6:30 p.m.
Shabbat Shaboomi is a Rock N’ Roll kids show that celebrates Shabbat in a fun, cool way.
The program includes songs such as “Hollah for Challah!,” “Disco Shabbat Shalom,” “Shabbat Shaboom” and “Light the Candles,” all presented as fun for the whole family.

St. Catherine of Siena Parish is celebrating its 60th anniversary of its founding with several events planned.
On Sunday, April 29, St. Catherine will hold a Family Communion Breakfast after the 10:45 a.m. Mass.
The service will feature a gathering of families — young and old — to celebrate the Eucharist on the feast of Saint Catherine of Siena, with a Communion Breakfast to follow in Siena Hall (in the school building).
Advanced tickets must be purchased for the breakfast: $10/adult, $6/child 12 and younger. Children younger than two are free. Tickets will be sold after Masses or you can contact MaryEllen O’Haire at (201) 738-3800 or the rectory office at (973) 239-7960 to purchase tickets.

St. Catherine of Siena Parish will host its annual carnival Thursday, May 31 through Sunday, June 3.
The carnival has always been a big event and this year it will be no different and feature a 60th anniversary theme.
Eat, play and have fun with the whole family.
St. Catherine of Siena Parish will hold its annual Appreciation Dinner on Wednesday, June 13 at Siena Hall.
The dinner will be expanded this year to include and celebrate all the people who have shared their gifts and talents to make the parish so special during the past 60 years.
Don’t forget to invite friends who were once part of the parish and have since moved away.

St. Catherine’s Super 50/50 raffle tickets are being mailed to each registered parishioner.
The booklet contains 15 tickets priced at $2.00 each or $30.00 for the entire book.
The drawing will be held Sunday, June 3, at the carnival.

On April 29 at 3 p.m., the Archdiocese of Newark will honor couples celebrating their 50th anniversary in 2012 with anniversary liturgies celebrated by Archbishop John J. Myers in the Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart in Newark.
On June 3, the Archdiocese of Newark will honor couples celebrating both their 5th and 25th anniversaries in 2012 with a mass with the Archbishop.

Time for Tots is an informal group of parents who get together on Tuesdays from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. for adult’s to spend time together.
There is no sign up or cost involved to participate in the program. Use the Lakeside entrance of the Lake School Auditorium and knock on the door.

On Saturday, May 19, Our Lady of the Lake will hold a fundraiser for two severely wounded soldiers who each lost both legs in Afghanistan.
A pig-turkey and barbecue roast to benefit the soldiers will be held from noon until 5 p.m. at the Cedar Grove Elk’s #2237, 405 Bowden Road in Cedar Grove.
Donations for the event are $40 for adults and $20 for children aged 8-18.
May 20th will be the rain date, if necessary.
