Provisional Ballots Will Reveal Verona's Winner

The Essex County Clerk's Office will count the provisional ballots at 5 p.m. on Thursday, May 16, to determine a winner of Verona's Municipal Elections.

With Verona candidates Bob Manley and Rich Williamson just one vote away at the polls, the election is too close to call, until the Essex County Clerk's Office opens the provisional ballots.

The provisional ballots will be counted on Thursday, May 16, at 5 p.m. at the Essex County Clerk's Office, located at 465 Dr. Martin Luther King Boulevard in Newark.

There are seven provisional ballots to be counted, which will determine the outcome of the election, according to the Essex County Clerk's Office.

When the unofficial election results came in from the Tuesday, May 14 election, Williamson was ahead with 975, while Manley had 973.

After absentee ballots were counted the results were even closer, Manley with 1,009 and Williamson with 1,008.
