Throughout the week of Feb. 25, Cedar Grove Schools held many activities for Read Across America, which also coincides with Dr. Seuss' birthday.

Mayor Peter Tanella, Superintendent Dr. Gene Polles and other administrators read popular Dr. Seuss books to students.

Read Across America is not over yet, with many more books, activities and events planned at North End School.

Students in all grades have Drop Everything And Read (DEAR) time every day during homeroom and after lunch.

North End Principal Traci Dyer has also challenged every pre-k class to read 25 books and grades one through four to read 50 books between January and February.

If they pass the challenge, Ms. Dyer will dress up as a princess on Friday, March 8 and will have to kiss a frog prince.

Students can also guess how many frogs are in a jar with prizes going to one student from every grade level.

During the week students will:

  • Dress as their favorite fairytale character on Monday
  • Dress like a frog and wear green on Tuesday
  • Dress like a prince or princess on Wednesday
  • Wear pajamas on Thursday
  • Wear black and gold for spirit week on Friday
