Who needs to spend a lot of time and money going on a cruise or a trip far away?According to Patch readers, there are lots of great places to "staycation" right here at home.

From parks, to restaurants, to concert venues and sporting events, you know how to have a good time without depleting your wallet and your vacation week. Here's where you said you like to spend your leisure time:

For Bloomfield readers, FLIC Spa was the stayaction spot of choice. After all, what better place to “get away from it all” than a full-service spa that calls itself a “vacation without the flight” ?  Flic Spa offers seven different types of massages and facials, several rejuvenating body treatments and three different “Couples Retreats”  featuring aromatherapy massage for two with a luxe foot soak and complimentary champagne and chocolates.

West Orange readers weighed in and said their favorite staycation was seeing a great show at the Wellmont Theatre in Montclair and also at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark.

Maplewood and South Orange residents have excellent taste.

When we asked readers to vote for their idea of a perfect staycation, the luxurious Hilton Short Hills Hotel won by a landslide. Caldwells readers also said it's one of their favorite places to go.

With its glamorous rooms, stylish spa and extensive dining options, it is no surprise that the Hilton took the honors.  The fact that it is located practically in SOMA's backyard, not to mention across the street from the Mall at Short Hills, is just icing on the cake.

Montclair's results were a tie between two destinations— there is Turtle Back Zoo in West Orange and the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark. Tied for second place: Eagle Rock Reservation and the Woodhouse Day Spa.The Woodhouse Day Spa, located at 56 South Park Street in Montclair, offers more than 70 different services. Check out this Montclair Patch review of the spa here.

Readers from Livingston, Belleville-Nutley, Millburn and Caldwell also love the  Turtle Back Zoo in West Orange and Nutley readers said they enjoy the Wellmont Theatre in Montclair. The venue has undergone a $3 million renovation the theatre now hosts regularly scheduled live entertainment events from world renowned performers.

Verona and West Orange readers also love a good game. They said they like to attend minor league baseball at the New Jersey Jackals Stadium on the campus of Montclair State University.
