Keli Dougherty, of Ridgewood, N.J. had her camera ready at just the right time on Thursday night, and she was able to capture one of Zeus' bolts over the backdrop of the village. Credit Courtesy of Keli Dougherty.

Who put the Flag as in appropriate on here? Why? This is our flag. We are proud of it and proud to serve under it. Proud for all it stands. No one should think the flag inappropriate. This picture is awesome. Lighting the flag from heaven.

"Flag as Inappropriate" means to report it as being rule-breaking or inappropriate. The article didn't call the flag inappropriate. :P

I'd hate to be standing under the receiving end of this bolt of lightning. A bad hair day for sure! :)

Ridgewood is my home town, and it's great to go back and see that they also have the force of nature that I now enjoy in Florida. Nature can be ugly and beautiful at the same time. The flag was an added bonus!

I'm glad someone caputred the 2nd photo on film & shared it with us. As I was driving on Rte 64, home to Maryland a couple years ago, there was a huge lightning ball or archway over the highway up ahead of me, somewhere in Virginia/maryland area. I think I was still in Virginia, I stopped at a Rest Area & waited for the storm to subside. It was night time & dark out, so I didn't really look at signs & I didn't have to get out of my car while I was at the rest area to see exactly where I was. But I never ever bothered mentioning to anyone, because it seemed too unbelieveable.

Well, they may not have done it by mistake. In their opinion, it may be kind of like lightning striking our country or flag, or like a threat. So, maybe someone did flag the flag photo. But, it was not me. I think it looks very strong & dramatic!

Its not that hard to photograph lightning, just put your camera on a tripod and auto shoot a sequence of pics, then delete the ones without lightning.
