Letter to the Editor: Verona Superintendent Steven Forte

Verona Superintendent Steven Forte pens letter to the editor following Hurricane Sandy school closures.

Dear Parents and Guardians,

This has been a difficult week for all of us to say the least and I am sure your children are getting a cabin fever being in the house.

Good news!

We are committed to opening the schools on Monday November 5th in some capacity. All students will be accommodated in the buildings that have power, currently VHS, Laning and Brookdale have power.

We will provide everyone with the final plan on Sunday afternoon. The plan will be disseminated via email, Global Connect telephone call, text message, nexile, www.veronaschools.org, and posted on the electronic sign outside of VHS by the afternoon of November 4th.

We have also revised the district calendar to include November 8 & 9 and February 19 as school days. We are working with the YMCA to provide an extended care program as well.

Please stay safe and as always email me if you have any questions.

We look forward to seeing everyone on Monday!

Reminder- Daylight Savings Time begins Nov 4 at 2:00 AM- turn back clocks one hour
