Hundreds Pound the Pavement for Team Zoey
First annual 'Turkey Trot' held at Verona Park.
On the Saturday after Thanksgiving, hundreds participated in the first annual Turkey Trot Miles for Miracles 5k at Verona Park. The fundraiser was held for Zoey Aster Penny, who was diagnosed with Progeria at birth. This degenerative disease prematurely ages young children, leaving them with a life expectancy of about 13 years of age. All proceeds raised at the run will go towards the Progeria Research Foundation by way of Team Zoey, a foundation created in honor of Zoey, who recently celebrated her second birthday.

Actually all money raised by Team Zoey goes to the Progeria Research Foundation which is dedicated to find a cure and treatment for the fatal disease, progeria which affects 18 children in the US and 80 worldwide. For more information to go www.progeriareseaarch.org

Thanks Mary. Poor wording on my part, I've amended it. Thanks for the correction.

The roles of free radicals and reactive oxygen species in progeria, neurodegenerative diseases and aging are similar.
