H.B. Whitehorne Hosts Substance Abuse Prevention Lecture
Partnership for a Drug-Free New Jersey will teach how to talk to children about drugs, signs of use and abuse to look for, current terminology, and trends of use
Verona parents are invited to a one-hour presentation on substance abuse and the role of the caregiver.
The Partnership for a Drug-Free New Jersey (PDFNJ) will hold the presentation at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14 at H.B. Whitehorne Middle School, 600 Bloomfield Ave.
The Verona H.B. Whitehorne Middle School Community Association (SCA) and the Verona Municipal Alliance Committee (VMAC) are sponsoring the event.
“This presentation is an opportunity for parents and caregivers to come out and find out the role they play and the power they have in preventing their children from abusing drugs and alcohol,” said Angelo Valente, Executive Director of the PDFNJ.
They will discuss information on the importance of the parent or caregiver’s role on substance abuse prevention as well as how to talk to children about drugs, signs of use and abuse to look for, current terminology, and trends of use, he said.
“We are excited to bring this program to Verona parents,” said Rosanne Bornstein, Grant Coordinator of VMAC. “Giving parents the information and skills to deal with the difficult issues facing their children is very important to VMAC.”
