Frelinghuysen Brings Hurricane Hunter to Verona School

Carl Newman will educate students on hurricanes to promote careers in math and science.

Representative Rodney Frelinghuysen (R-11th District) will have some expert company when he visits several local schools, including Forest Avenue School in Verona to talk to students about hurricane season.

Frelinghuysen and “Hurricane Hunter” Carl Newman, a veteran pilot for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) will visit the school on Tuesday, April 30, from 1:45 to 2:30 p.m.

“Commander Newman has had the unique opportunity to fly directly into some of the worst hurricanes our country has ever seen,” Frelinghuysen said. “I am sure that his fascinating presentation will help to educate us on the science behind hurricanes.”
