East Orange Woman Busted Trying to Obtain Drugs

Suspect fleeing pharmacy Saturday captured by Cedar Grove police after attempting to obtain Oxycodone with fraudulent prescription.

On Saturday, Cedar Grove police arrested an East Orange woman who fled from the CVS Pharmacy at 387 Pompton Ave. after attempting to obtain Oxycodone with a fraudulent prescription at 5:37 p.m.

When police arrived, the pharmacist said the suspect, identified as Amirah N. Bowman, had left the pharmacy. After a search of the area, police stopped a black Chrysler at the intersection of Pompton Avenue and Union Street and arrested Bowman charging her with attempting to obtain a controlled dangerous substance by fraud, forgery and possession of seven glassine envelopes of heroin.

Bowman was processed and released pending a Thursday arraignment in Superior Court in Newark.
