Batchmakers Homemade Ice Cream is an independent ice cream shop that prides itself on making high quality ice cream on-site daily.  They serve everything from traditional creamy vanilla to the more exotic Red Velvet Cupcake Ice Cream and Peanut Butter Explosion.  Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream seems to be one of the more popular flavors, as well. 

Joe Gasparino, the owner of Batchmakers, was born and raised in Cedar Grove, NJ and he currently still lives in town.  He opened Batchmakers on April 13, 2011 with his wife Kristie after he was laid off from his job last year.  When he was younger, he was involved in the food business, so when his friend who owns a Rita’s Ice Cream recommended that he get into the ice cream business, he decided to open up his own place.  Gasparino took some classes at Ice Cream University (based in West Orange), and learnt how to make ice cream.  After that, he was hooked.  He fell in love with it and loves making his own unique flavors.  Gasparino makes all his ice cream flavors on the store premises.  

Low fat and sugar free options are also available to cater to various dietary needs.  Gasparino keeps two low-fat ice cream flavors available in the store at all times, as well as frozen yogurt. And while all the basics are always on hand, the menu is also sprinkled with a number of off-the-beaten-path flavors.  They also make cakes for special occasions.

Come by to enjoy a scoop of your favorite flavor on their lovely outdoor patio!  Parking is available in the back of the store.  Joe promises that one can also safely park one’s car at the neighboring bank without being towed.

Their flavors are constantly changing, so always check for a new and exciting flavor. They are even willing to take suggestions!

Toppings include: Hot Fudge, Peanut Butter, Heath Bar, Snickers, Peanut Butter Cup, M&M's, Coconut, Gummy Bears, Double Stuff Oreo, Granola, Lucky Charms, Chocolate Stones, White Chocolate ChipsPineapple, Captain Crunch, Wet Walnuts, Strawberry, Whatchamacallit, CaramelPeanut Butter Pretzel, Whip Cream, Nerds, Kit Kat, Butterfinger, Chocolate Sprinkles, Rainbow Sprinkles, and Dark Chocolate Chips.

Coming in the fall are homemade soups.  Joe plans to offer six varieties of soup and two kinds of chili (turkey and traditional beef).  

Store Hours are Monday – Sunday 1:00pm to 10:00pm.
