Chamber of Commerce Gala Postponed Until Further Notice

Cedar Grove Chamber of Commerce, who was looking to raise money for the Cedar Grove Rescue Squad, will need to postpone the event until further notice after major sponsors pulled out.

The Cedar Grove Chamber of Commerce, led by president Allen Rosen, will need to postpone their gala, which was aiming to raise money for the Cedar Grove Ambulance and Rescue Squad.

The event “Groovin at the Grove” was supposed to be at The Grove catering hall in February, but after several major sponsors pulled out, the gala may be rescheduled towards the end of next year, said Rosen.

The Chamber had several major corporate sponsors pull out after Hurricane Sandy, instead putting their money to Sandy relief funds.

"It blew us out of the water," said Rosen. "It was a dominoe effect and they all fell one after another."

"We weill have to reschedule," he said. "We don't know when yet but we have to give the state time to recover."

The Chamber was expecting more than 400 people for an elaborate function featuring fine dining and live music, with all proceeds going to the Rescue Squad, who desperately needs a new ambulance, said Rosen.

Rosen and the Chamber have put too much work into the event to let it go. Now its just a matter of when, said Rosen.

“The Rescue Squad is made up of volunteers and donations are down,” said Rosen. “The Chamber is stepping up to see if we can do something for them because they really need a new vehicle.”
