Facelift Coming For Center Avenue
Cedar Grove agrees roadway will receive a complete reconstruction in the spring of 2013 to fix potholes, add sidewalks.
Residents of Center Avenue were so concerned about safety issues with the roadway, they felt it was necessary to voice those concerns Monday at the Cedar Grove Township Council meeting.
And the council responded, agreeing to give the street a complete facelift in the spring.
“There is no sidewalk and the potholes are so deep that people drive on the wrong side of the road,” one resident said. “Every year I call and every year I am told that it is going to be fixed next year.”
“We have been waiting for five or six years for this to be taken care of,” said another resident.
According to Township Manager Thomas Tucci, the township submitted an application to Department Of Transportation for the reconstruction.
“Come springtime you are going to have a brand new street on Center Avenue,” said Mayor Peter Tanella.
In other news the council:
- Amended a bond ordinance to repair the roof of the Cedar Grove Library. The bond added an extra $16,000, bringing the project to a total of $66,000.
- Announced the township will be receiving 100 percent of their state aid from the results of their Best Practices Survey.
“You need to score between 40 and 50 to receive 100 percent of your state aid and we have met that,” said Tucci.
