Celebrating 40 Years of Inspiring Through Music

Verona's First Presbyterian to mark music ministry director Charlotte Cunningham's milestone anniversary June 5.

For almost four decades, the inspirational songs and sounds emanating from the ever-musical First Presbyterian Church in Verona have been the responsibility of one woman.

Charlotte Cunningham replaced Dorothy Pfeifer as Music Ministry Director at the First Presbyterian Church in June, 1971. She guides the church’s music ministry, plans worship service music, directs the church’s adult choir, the Praise Choir, children’s hand bell choir, and band of guitars,  plays the organ, accompanies guest musicians, and much more.

First Presbyterian Church, Verona will be celebrating the fortieth anniversary of Cunningham’s tenure as Director of Music Ministry on Sunday, June 5 following worship at 11:30 a.m. A coffee hour reception for Mrs. Cunningham is being planned, along with presentations and slide show.

The community is invited to join in the celebration.

Mrs. Cunningham has previously been Music Director at the Roseland Presbyterian Church for ten years. She graduated from Meredith College in Raleigh, North Carolina with a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Music. She also received a Masters of Music from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois.

First Presbyterian Church is at the corner of Fairview and Bloomfield avenues.  Parking is available by the back door and the building is handicap accessible.  Childcare is available.
