Ray Williams, a former resident of Cedar Grove, presented his coin collection to the Cedar Grove Historical Society on Wednesday, Feb. 27 to celebrate George Washington's birthday, which is Feb. 22.

Williams has been collecting coins since he was 11 years old as a Boy Scout in Cedar Grove, he said.

"I think George Washington today is underappreciated," said Williams. "During colonial times he was almost deified."

Williams began the presentation with a quote from the U.S. House of Representatives in passing a resolution in the wake of Washington's death authored by Henry Lee which said, "First in war, first in peace and first in the hearts of his countrymen."
