Cedar Grove Council Rejects Firehouse Bid

The Cedar Grove Council rejected a bid for the South End Firehouse because the project will be privately financed.

The Cedar Grove Council Rejected a bid for alterations to the South End Firehouse during its public session on Monday night.

Private financing has been established so the town is no longer involved, said Tucci.

In July, the council heard from South End Firehouse Company President Michael Flohn, who told council members the firehouse had “serious structural deficiencies” and was in need of repair.

The South End Firehouse is the oldest in town, having been built around 1940, largely from recycled materials from a factory that had been disassembled, according to Flohn. The firehouse is not owned by the township, but by the fire company itself.
