Oheb Shalom Congregation presents Music for the Ages - an afternoon of American Jewish Music

On Sunday, January 23, 2011 at 3:00 p.m., Congregation Oheb Shalom, 170 Scotland Road, South Orange, will feature a showcase of timeless and current American Jewish Music in Music for the Ages. This event is another in a series of community events marking the 150th anniversary of Oheb Shalom.

The concert features renowned musical director Dr. Hankus Netsky, founder of the internationally renowned Klezmer Conservatory Band, and professor at the New England Conservatory of Boston.   The program will feature something for everyone - including songs from the golden age of the Yiddish theater to the sounds of Jewish Broadway to the constantly evolving and energetic Jewish musical sounds of today.

The concert will also feature vocalist Joanne Borts (just back from the current national tour of Fiddler on the Roof), Jeff Warschauer and Deborah Strauss, a fabulous klezmer music duo, along with outstanding musical accompanists and surprise guests.  As part of the program, we will honor the memory of the late singer-songwriter Debbie Friedman, who touched millions with her creative reworkings of the Jewish liturgy.

Tickets are $18 for general admission; $9 for children 12 and under.  For more information, please visit us online at www.oheb150.org. Tickets may also be purchased at the door.
